Chief Financial Officer

Search Masters International is a scientific and executive search firm with an industry focus on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields. We have been retained by a development stage biopharmaceutical company based in Michigan to identify their Chief Financial Officer. The company’s therapeutic focus in on new drug therapies for endocrine, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.

The CFO will report to the Chief Executive Officer and have financial management, administration, planning, and investor relations responsibilities to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure full compliance with all Board and external statutory financial accounting requirements, record keeping and reporting and auditing functions.
  • Responsibility to ensure relevant SEC and other requirements can be met in full at the time the company goes public.
  • Manage tax reporting and optimization.
  • Manage Company cash and other investments in an optimal way to support cash flow requirements for operations.
  • Responsible for developing and /or maintaining up to date company policies and procedures covering HR, financial and administration areas (eg: 401k, retirement plan, healthcare, travel & entertainment guidelines, reimbursement approvals, management authorization limits).
  • Ensure compliance with labor and other relevant employer regulations and laws.
  • Manage appropriate insurance coverages and policy renewals.

Qualifications: Prior experience as a CFO, Dir/VP of Finance, or Financial Controller is required. Strong background in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries, preferably in a start up or small company environment is desired. Strong credibility with VCs, Board, and other outside financial audiences. Prior IPO experience is a plus.
