Director of Business Development

We currently seek an experienced Director of Business Development for a leading biotechnology company located in the Northwest specializing in the area of fluorescence technology. The purpose of this position is to direct and manage business development activities of the company for the assigned product, technology and market areas in accordance with the strategic goals of the department and the company. This position is to provide a liaison between outside companies and our client to evaluate and act upon in/out licensing opportunities, strategic alliance, and contract research opportunities in the assigned areas.

Qualifications include:
- BS/MS/PhD in a science and 5+ years of industrial experience in biotechnology (advanced degree preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of products and reagents used in fluorescence-based detection and the capability to communicate information about these reagents to outside contacts
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to drive innovation within the organization by coming up with ideas for product development and new applications of our client's already existing products and getting those ideas implemented
- Ability to drive innovation outside the organization through collaborations or strategic partners by coming up with ideas for using our client's technology in combination with technology owned by outside entities, and convincing those outside entities to implement those ideas
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple, complex projects in diverse areas
